Coding... not as easy as it seems

So I screwed up my "grab my button" code and spent the last hour trying to fix it, and went to tons of different sites to find code that worked. Well finally it did work, but I tell ya I was getting frustrated. I had to turn on my XM radio and listen to some Christian music to center myself and not curse at the computer. Now to actually do something productive, and complete my school work for yesterday and today. Yes, I'm a procrastinator the last couple of days, but what else is new.

I'm also struggling with starting my new book, it's in a genre that I'm not very familiar with, christian contemporary romance. I know what needs to be in there and what doesn't, but dang if I'm having a hard time getting that first paragraph out. I hope that with some movies and other books, and maybe listening to some music I'll be able to get it going.

Currently Reading: Bound by Prophecy By Melissa Wright

Bound by Prophecy (Descendants Series Book 1)

By Melissa Wright

Words: 54,040

Language: English

ISBN: 9781301717385
Book Description:
Aern's only job is to protect the chosen. The trouble is, she's the key to a prophecy and everyone wants her. Hiding a girl in the center of a secret war is tricky business, but when her sister shows up to take Aern hostage, all bets are off.

A slim brunette in borrowed jeans should be the least of his problems, but there's something about Emily he just can't put to rights. And it's not her penchant for using hand tools as weapons or the fact that she seems immune to his sway.

Everything about her screams run. But when he discovers she's working toward her own prophecy, he's got no choice but to keep her safe. It might have been easy, if she didn't think she was the chosen's protector. When the opposition descends, their only hope is to stick together, but the truth unravels, and together might prove the biggest complication of them all.

Getting Life Back Together

So two days in a row I've attempted to return to work after being off for nearly three months. Let's just say it's harder than it sounds. I've struggled with getting to sleep at a good time, and ending up only getting a couple of hours sleep and having a headache, and not feeling well along with it. Let's hope that tomorrow is a better day, so that I can finally get back on track.

Me and my buddy Jack today, trying to make it a good day.

Updates

So it's been a long time since I've been to this blog, and boy has there been some updates to my life. My dad moved in with me at the end of March 2013.

Thanksgiving we spent at Golden Corral... won't be doing that again. Broke my pinky finger on my left hand on December 10, 2013 and had to have surgery, where they put three screws to put it all back together.

Christmas and New Year 2013 was the best one so far since being out in Texas.

2014 was a roller coaster. Finances were all over the place. May 23 I began my weight loss journey, and on Sept 22 I had my surgery. I've lost just over 85 lbs since surgery, but have lost over 100 lbs since my highest weight in July (topped out at 415).

My dad and I moved to a new apartment, and now he has his own bedroom and bathroom. I must say he is very happy.

Let's just say that the first two and a half months after my surgery were real crappy, but now I'm doing better, and after a brief hospital stay at the beginning of December, I'm back on track. Now I have plans to return to work in a week, and get my life back to normal.

Writing and life...

So about a week ago I decided that my health is more of a priority now than ever before, and with the knowledge of my true and current weight, it's even more at the forefront of what I need to do. I've decided that I need to go through weight loss surgery to assist in preventive measures to all the health risks that I face. But seeing as the goal is to max out my insurance prior to having to do any of the major expensive things, I'm probably going to have to wait until the first of the year to actually see a specialist, until then, I'm going to do the best I can to get motivated and into a routine so that when the time comes, I'm already at the point of no return.

On another note, I've got my book (Cold Case) organized in the WriteWayPro system that I downloaded the demo for. Will most likely purchase the full thing, but for now the demo is enough.. hopefully this will assist me in my goal of completely my manuscript by the end of the year.. fingers crossed...

This .. that.. and everything else...

So the bed is awesome.. still need to get a sheet set for it, and what not, but other than that it's amazing. Had to spin the mattress around last week so that it had even sleeping dents in it... was feeling like I was on a hill.. haha....

Ok so getting up and going to work out hasn't really worked out... seems the getting up part is the hardest... but I will keep my alarm set for 5:30am and see what happens...

So a family member of mine needs help, and hopefully without issues with my apartment complex, he'll be able to move in with me at the end of the week and I'll try to help him get his life back on track... sucks being and adult doesn't it... but that's what families are for.

First Night

So my first night in my new bed was much better than my old bed, but I know that it'll take a few days to get adjusted. All I know is that I didn't have the back or body pain I had every morning when I woke up in my old bed, so that is a major bonus. Now to get used to being so far in the air...lol... this thing is like 3ft high....and to get a new king sized bed set..... I saw one at Walmart that I liked but none in King size, so will have to go back and check later in the week.

Hopefully a good night sleep....

So I got my new bed today, a giant King sized bed, orthopedic and some other stuff.... I can't wait to sleep on it tonight and hopefully wake up tomorrow with no pain...

Here's a picture:

I know it's going to be hard... but I know I can do it.... *crosses fingers*.... keep your eyes out for updates and pictures.....*cringes*

Been awhile

So it's been awhile since my last real post, got through thanksgiving and christmas and the new year, made a couple resolutions, and sticking to one so far. I hope to see some results this year from the three things I've decided will be my focus this year.

  1. Walk every day (or just about)
  2. See more of Texas (ROADTRIPS!!)
  3. Finish a novel..yes I've got ideas for many, let's see which will be completed first.
So I'm on day 3 of my walking, had one day where I was not feeling good and another day where I had to grocery shop, but other than that, I've been sticking with it, and I'm enjoying it. So let's see how I do in my other resolutions.. I've started planning trips I wanna take, starting with small to larger, I may do one this weekend, gotta plan it out first, find where I'm going and prepare, I hope to be able to take longer road trips, down to Austin or San Antonio, I wanna see the Alamo and other places. So cross your fingers.. and finally finishing a novel.. just gotta lock down which idea to do.

Review: Chill Run by Russell Brooks & Contest!!

You know a publicity stunt has backfired when someone dies.

“Starving author Eddie Barrow, Jr, will do anything to get a book deal with a NYC publisher. Even if it means getting caught by the media while engaging in S&M with a female celebrity as a publicity stunt. What Eddie gets instead are details of a billion dollar fraud scheme from a suicidal client who’s fatally shot minutes later. Now on the run from the law and the killers, Eddie seeks help from two unlikely friends—an alcoholic and a dominatrix. With few resources, Eddie races to clear his name, expose the fraud scheme, and expose the killers before he becomes their next victim.”

Release date December 1, 2011 in eBook and in paperback.

REVIEW:
Once again Russell Brooks invites me to read another thrilling tail of adventure, danger, loyalty and out right excitement. You, from the start, are drawn in to love Eddie, wanting him to succeed and wishing that those who don't belive in him would just rot. You are taken for a ride as he tries to get a quick fix to his ongoing bad situation, and then thrown into an even more bad situation. The way Russell Brooks tells his story keeps you on your toes and makes you think you know what is going to happen just to sending you in a totally different direction. Just like Pandora's Succession and Unsavory Delicacies, you are left wanting more, and rush to the beginning to see if you missed something the first time around.

Review: Unsavory Delicacies by Russell Brooks

Format: Kindle Edition
File Size: 159 KB
Sold by: Amazon Digital Services
Language: English
ASIN: B004XD66VW
Lending: Enabled

For fans of Barry Eisler and Robert Ludlum. A three-course story collection with a side-order of revenge.

Crème Brûlée

Rogue operative, Monique Beauvais, cons a software genius into selling her a coveted technology that would allow its user to control CIA drones while they’re in flight. And she will go as far as killing him in public in order to have it.

To the Last Bite

A renowned food critic—whose scathing reviews have closed down restaurants—gets a savoury surprise.

Shashlyk and Morezhenoe

CIA operative, Ridley Fox, leads a team against one of Russia’s most powerful crime families. He discovers secrets, but not one that he was expecting to find.

Three stories with three consequences. All containing three Unsavory Delicacies.

***Caution*** Readers are strongly advised NOT to eat while reading To The Last Bite.

When asked to read this arc, I was pleased. I had enjoyed Pandora's Succession very much and looked forward to read what else could come out of Russell Brooks mind. All three stories were intriguing and either made me smile, or root for the one who ended up walking away with a smile. I loved how they were tied into Russell Brooks original character Ridley Fox from Pandora's Succession. Each story could stand alone, but was nice to see how the first and third were tied together. After reading each story, I wanted to know more, what happened to the characters and what happened next. My favorite story was the last one, Shashlyk and Morozhenoe, the ending left me laughing and shaking my head.

I'm still working on my story, it's slow going, with my new job I have more time to write there, but have to transfer the 14k words to paper, so bear with me as I transfer the story and get to work on it more. It's been going on for two years now, and I hope that this time next year, I'll have a manuscript to send out, cross your fingers for me.
